Matthew 22:36-40
New International Version (NIV)
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
The events of this week sadden me. Using the bible to hurt people saddens me. Marriage is a legal issue and in our country all citizens are to be served equality and the opportunity to pursue happiness is for all. We are a diverse nation of religios beliefs and family systems…that is why people immigrated here…to be free. Those who suffered slavery were wronged and we as a nation must allow for hurt feelings and yet right the past in our daily actions. We are called to love our neighbor as ourselves. If you do not love yourself please honor the gift of your life and fall in love with yourself so that you can bless others with your presence. Please stop hurting one another with your fear. You can walk in love or walk in fear…please choose love.
